Wolf + Lamb label tour hits Detroit and Chicago this weekend!

Saturday night the guys will play a loft party in Detroit before heading to the windy city on sunday to play a full on raging day party. Here is a press release for the Chicago day party. See you there!

TOP PICK RECOMMENDED PARTY BY NEWCITY CHICAGO MAGAZINE

The New York cool merchants at Wolf + Lamb have found their tender treatments of techno, deep house and disco an in-demand commodity, and it’s hard, exactly, to figure out what they’re doing that makes them so successful. Because honestly, their releases tend to be clever, gently textured exercises in efficiency and groove, sonically making the most out of the least, while staring at the sun and heading towards the light, as opposed to their jet-black German counterparts. Is it the juxtaposition of their bleeding-edge style and unabashed optimism that makes them truly unique, or at least catchy? If so, it’s quite fitting to welcome them back to town for a Sunday afternoon affair, featuring a DJ set from Gadi Mizrahi (half of the founding duo behind the group, label, party, brand, or whatever else Wolf + Lamb happens to be or become) and a live performance from No Regular Play. Gadi, to his credit, isn’t afraid to push what he feels as a DJ, often chilling things out, pitching down as if pouring sickly sweet syrup on the record to, say, play pop disco at sunrise way out in the middle of nowhere in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert during last year’s Burning Man, or Michael Jackson’s “Off the Wall” at peak time at a loft party in Chicago back in November. Sure, it’s probably won Wolf + Lamb as many detractors as fans (Wuss + Lamb?), but there is no denying what they do well—spoon-feed jaded hipsters sunny music without a hint of irony. Seriously, that’s got to be harder than snake-charming with an accordion. And No Regular Play definitely follows suit, most recently with last fall’s “Owe Me” EP, which showcased all the right (hand-clap and synth) moves to accompany their deep, deep grooves. It should be a rare treat to catch this up-and-coming duo performing their tracks, and perhaps a few sneak peeks, too. So shake off the hangover and get out of the house. March might have gone out like a lamb, but this Sunday is coming in like a wolf. Additional deck support comes courtesy of local techno talent Phillip Stone and of course “surprise guests” (hopefully not DJ Partly Cloudy With A Chance of Rain…nobody wants that). (Duke Shin)
